Chicks That Ride, A Close Call, and A Stunning Sunset

I had the best time this past weekend! Me and my husband took a ride up to Pine Mountain Club, CA for the Chicks That Ride Photoshoot. We had the best time making our way up Highway 33 (which we had not ridden since May) and long Lockwood Valley Road. Be aware, neither road is for the faint on heart on 2-wheels. Both are full of twists and turns, but the challenge is worth it for the beautiful vistas. I did have one close call on Lockwood Valley Road in a low water crossing. During the the rainy season these crossings are deep enough to prevent riding a motorcycle, now in the heat of summer can be sandy. It was in one of these crossings where my back tire slipped. To say it scared me is an understatement. It is those ‘Oh S$#%!"‘ moments on a bike that keep you humble.

When we made a ride to Pine Mountain Club, CA we were so surprised and pleased for find the quaint little mountain town. It is sleepy and perfect for a family weekend getaway. I would highly recommend checking it out if you are ever in the are.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Chicks That Ride for pulling together a wonderful gathering of women bikers for the Chicks That Ride Photoshoot. And another big than you to the R&B Hideaway Bar & Café for the great take-out and the live music. It was a blast to listen to music, have a picnic lunch, and be around some of my Wind Sisters. To have a slice of something that reminded us of normal was a gift.

As we were leaving Pine Mountain Club we connected with one of my local Litas Sisters that was riding back solo, so we added her to our small group cause no Wind Sister should have to ride solo if she doesn't want to.

The whole day was summed up as we made it back to the Pacific Coast Highway just as the sun was setting. Riding along the Rencon at sunset is one of my favorite local rides. All in all, a fantastic day with good people. One I am sure I will remember for a long time.
