It Is Our Bike Anniversary!

It is our bike anniversary and I am so excited!

Let me start this story from the beginning. About a year and a half ago I walked into one of my local Harley-Davidson dealerships on my way across LA to visit a friend. Parked near the door was this amazingly beautiful green Road King Classic and it was love at first sight. As I walked up to her (yes her) I said, 'Hello Lovely! You will be mine.' Seriously, it was love at first sight!

At the time I knew I was looking for a touring bike that would be more comfortable for multi day ride than my almost antique Fat Boy Bob, thought when I spotted this beautiful lady I did not have enough of a down payment set aside. Fast forward about 4 months and on a ride with my husband we stopped in again. I was shocked to find that my bike was still on the showroom floor. I was certain that someone else would have already snapped her up. Though I was still not sure if I had enough of a down payment, I sat down with Dyna-Dar, a fellow female rider and Lita, and she was able to make the numbers work. Since I was riding Bob the day we did this, and I wanted some things done to her before picking her up, I had to leave my beautiful girl there for another week.

One year ago, almost to the day, I had to ride double up (yes, my husband rolls his eye every time I say that) to pick up Scarlett. The bonus? I was on my birthday weekend! Happy Birthday to me!

We had also planned to took off from the dealership to ride for the weekend, and thus a tradition was born. That weekend riding in the Santa Monica Mountains was an awesome weekend. I also learned from spending almost 300 mile in the saddle that first weekend what modification I needed to make so that Scarlett and I could feel secure and confident riding together.

This year we for our Bike Anniversary we are headed out to Joshua Tree and possibly Angeles Crest Highway if the weather allows. So check back over the next few posts to see all the cool things we find along the way.

Now get out and ride, have fun, be safe, and catch you in the next post……
