A Close Call, A Fun Ride, And The Deer Lodge

On the way home from our wonderful weekend moto camping in the Sequoia National Forest, we decided to take the fun route home.

One of our favorite local rides when we have a chunk of time to just ride is the Santa Barbara/Ventura Country Loop and for some reason we always ride it going north on Hwy 33. I have no idea why, we just do. So it was a special treat for us on this ride home to ride it while traveling south this time. Sure it added about 2 hours to the trip, but as you will see it was so worth it!

Any experienced rider that has ridden any length of time in rural areas will tell you that you have to keep your eyes open for the special challenge that wildlife presents. And was it ever true this day. I had a close call when 2 deer decided to ran right out in front of me! Made me very grateful that I have practiced my emergency breaking often and recently.

Then we were excited to see that the Deer Lodge in Ojai, CA is open again! For much of the lockdown it has been closed or had very limited business. To see it open, even at significantly reduced capacity, was awesome. It was nice to stop and grab a late lunch before finishing the ride home. Soooo… What adventure is next?

Between now and the next big adventure… Get out and ride, have fun, be safe, and catch you in the next post……
