Upgrading my Road King Lights

It’s time! It’s time! It’s finally, finally time!

I am so excited to finally start the upgrade to Scarlett’s (my 2020 Road King) lights to LEDs! I have been putting this off for a long time because I was trying to find the headlight that I wanted at a price point I was willing to pay. After doing the research, looking at about 4 different headlights, I decided I really liked the look of the Harley-Davidson Daymaker. The issue? I refused to pay what they are asking for it.

After spending some time with my parts guys, we finally found the WixTech Superspots Chrome LED Headlight Halo Headlamp and 2x 4-1/2" Chrome LED Auxiliary Spot Fog Passing Light Lamp. I really like the look of both of these for the front of my bike and the price point was more than half of the Daymaker. And since I purchased them from my dealership (Santa Maria Harley-Davidson), it will not void my warranty!

The easiest part of this upgrade will be the Harley-Davidson Layback LED Tail Lamp. Harley has made this piece a true ‘plug and play’ with only a few screws to remove, unplug the stock taillamp, plug the new one in, and reattach. Next!

It will be the Harley-Davidson Bar & Shield LED Turn Signals for both the front and the rear that will require some rewiring to change out. This and getting to the headlight assembly are the part of the project that concerns me the most. So now it is time to start watching the YouTube videos on how to change out them all myself!

Speaking of YouTube videos, if you want to see the first video of this series, So Many Upgrades, So Little Time, click the link to check it out. Be sure to check back in about a week to hear more about how the actual install goes.

Now get out and ride, have fun, be safe, and catch you in the next post……
